A fresh look at Tomb Raider’s next chapter has leaked ahead of the Game Awards, revealing a redesigned Lara Croft, a rumored new title, and several gameplay screenshots.
If you don’t count the recent remasters, the last truly new Tomb Raider game arrived with 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which wrapped up the rebooted trilogy. We already know from an official announcement that Tomb Raider’s next era will be unveiled at The Game Awards tonight, but eager fans have already seen leaks—because leaks happen.
Tomb Raider Returns to Its Origins
Back to the roots in spirit, if not exactly in design
According to circulating rumors, the project is titled Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. Supposedly, it retells the saga of the original 1996 game while weaving in elements from the rebooted trilogy’s Lara. Some reports hint that Legacy of Atlantis isn’t the sole Tomb Raider project planned for The Game Awards, though we’ll have to wait for confirmation.
The leaked cover image positions Lara similarly to the official teaser released by The Game Awards, which has convinced many observers that the leaks may be authentic.
The accompanying screenshots present a Lara who nods to the rebooted version but also carries familiar Classic Tomb Raider cues. The environments look lush with jungle landscapes, ancient ruins, and sequences that showcase agile acrobatics—very much in line with the franchise’s heritage.
How to Watch for Confirmation
The countdown is almost over
If you want a definitive answer on the leaks’ legitimacy, your best bet is to watch The Game Awards live tonight. The 2025 ceremony starts at 4:30 PM Pacific Time / 7:30 PM Eastern on December 11, 2025. Viewers can stream via The Game Awards’ official YouTube channel or its Twitch stream.
Beyond Tomb Raider, the event is poised to shed more light on PlayStation-exclusive Saros, and the long-teased colossal statue will finally be explained. It’s widely believed to foreshadow a new Divinity installment from Larian Studios, but we’ll see what the reveal actually shows.
