Human Rights Watch has documented the UAE's role in providing weapons, personnel, and other support to the RSF, which has led to a humanitarian catastrophe and forced millions of people to flee their homes. The NBA's decision to prominently display Emirates logos during the 2026 NBA finals is a clear signal of its complicity in this abuse. The NBA has a responsibility to respect human rights throughout all its operations, and it should be using its platform to speak out against the UAE's abuses, not to promote them. The NBA should take immediate steps to ensure that its games are not used to distract from the harm linked to the UAE government at home and abroad. In my opinion, the NBA should end its partnership with the UAE, as long as the UAE is involved in atrocities in Sudan.
